What "sell" and "share" mean under CCPA

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), "selling" means exchanging personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration. "Sharing" means disclosing personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We do not engage in either practice. The only third parties that receive your personal information are service providers acting on our instructions (e.g., Auth0 for authentication, Stripe for billing, Plaid for bank data retrieval). These disclosures are not a "sale" or "share" under CCPA.

Sensitive personal information

Your financial data (bank account numbers, balances, transactions, brokerage holdings) is sensitive personal information under CPRA §1798.121. We use it solely to provide the Service — specifically, to display your financial data to you, generate AI-powered insights, and enable CPA or RIA collaboration features you explicitly enable. We do not use it to infer characteristics about you for advertising or sell it to any third party.

Your CCPA rights

• Right to know — You may request a copy of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months.
• Right to delete — You may request deletion of personal information we hold about you (subject to legal retention obligations, including the 7-year IRS financial recordkeeping requirement).
• Right to correct — You may request correction of inaccurate personal information. Most profile data can be corrected directly in Account Settings.
• Right to opt out of sale/share — Already exercised. We do not sell or share.
• Right to limit use of sensitive PI — We already limit use of your financial data to providing the Service. No additional opt-out is needed.
• Right to non-discrimination — Exercising your privacy rights will not result in denial of service, different prices, or lower quality of service.

How to exercise your rights

To submit a data access, deletion, or correction request, email us at privacy@personnelfinanceai.com or use the Data & Privacy section of your account settings if you are logged in. We will respond within 45 days (extendable by an additional 45 days with notice if necessary).

We will verify your identity before processing deletion requests. For requests submitted by an authorized agent, we may require written proof of authorization.
